A spirit of joy and gratitude filled the hall of St. Mary’s College Mayenze as the school community gathered for a special thanksgiving Mass to celebrate the outstanding performance of its candidates. The Mass was celebrated at the school and organized to thank God for the excellent results achieved in the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations set by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB). Among the achievements celebrated were sixty-four As, a remarkable performance that brought pride and honor to the school and its entire community.
The hall was filled with happiness as the successful candidates attended the Mass together with their proud parents, dedicated teachers, school administrators, and well-wishers. In total, about seven hundred people gathered for the celebration. The atmosphere was full of praise, thanksgiving, and inspiration as the school community reflected on the fruits of hard work, discipline, and faith.
The Holy Mass was led by Father Richard Wandera, the Parish Priest, assisted by Father Simon Peter Okumu. In his homily, Father Richard encouraged the students to remain humble and thankful to God even after achieving great success. He reminded them that true achievement comes from combining academic effort with prayer and good character. Special prayers were also offered for the Senior Six candidates of 2025 whose results are expected soon. The congregation committed them into God’s hands, praying that they receive exceptional results. The current Senior Four and Senior Six students, as well as the entire school term and year, were also entrusted to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The thanksgiving celebration reflected the strong values of faith and excellence that define St. Mary’s College Mayenze. In the same spirit of supporting learners, the school recently launched a half-bursary program to assist bright and talented students who face financial challenges. This initiative ensures that no learner misses quality education because of lack of fees. Students with strong academic records or outstanding sports performance can receive a 50% reduction in tuition. Those who scored a Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) aggregate between 4 and 14 are eligible to apply.
The school also promotes responsibility by offering a 2% discount to parents who pay fees within the first two weeks of the term. Academic excellence is rewarded, with students who achieve seven or more distinctions receiving UGX 50,000 or partial fee exemptions. Compassionate support is also provided to learners who lose a parent, with fee reductions of 50% for the loss of a father and 25% for the loss of a mother.
Looking ahead to 2026, the school plans to strengthen practical learning. Students will take part in geography field trips and educational visits to Parliament for History and Political Education lessons. These activities will help learners understand national leadership and civic responsibility in a deeper and more practical way.
Spiritual growth remains at the heart of the school’s mission. Daily prayers, Scripture Union activities, and regular Mass help shape disciplined, ethical, and faith-filled students. The school also prioritizes student welfare by providing balanced meals for all learners, with special weekly meals for boarders.
The thanksgiving Mass was not only a celebration of academic success but also a reminder that with faith, hard work, and strong support systems, greater achievements are possible. St. Mary’s College Mayenze continues to shine as a center of excellence, discipline, and opportunity.
