At the invitation of the Kampala Region branch leaders of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), the Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) visited their offices in Kyambogo for a meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation. The meeting brought together key leaders from the Kampala NRM team in a discussion described as fruitful and forward-looking.
The delegation was led by their Chairman, Ntanzi Stephen, who welcomed the KCCA Executive Director and expressed appreciation for the engagement. During the meeting, the leaders discussed ways in which they can work together to address key challenges affecting the city, especially in areas that directly impact residents’ daily lives.
One of the major areas of focus was solid waste management. The NRM leaders pledged their full support to KCCA in promoting proper waste collection and disposal across the city. They emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between political leaders, technical teams, and local communities to ensure that Kampala remains clean and organized.
Community mobilization was also highlighted as a critical factor in transforming the city. The leaders agreed that active involvement of residents is essential in maintaining sanitation, protecting the environment, and supporting government programs. By working closely with communities, both KCCA and the NRM leadership believe they can inspire positive behavior change and shared responsibility.
The meeting ended with a shared commitment to making Kampala a more livable city for all. Both sides expressed optimism that continued cooperation will bring practical solutions, strengthen service delivery, and improve the overall quality of life for city residents.
