The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) brought together management, staff, and key members of the Muslim community for a special Iftar dinner at its Head Office on Friday, March 6, 2025, to mark the holy month of Ramadan.
The gathering offered an opportunity for reflection, unity, and celebration, as participants shared the spirit of Ramadan while discussing the values of empathy, discipline, and service — qualities that are essential both in life and the aviation sector.
During the event, UCAA Director General, Mr. Fred K.
Bamwesigye, emphasized the importance of working together as a team and supporting one another, especially during challenging times. He highlighted how the principles of Ramadan, including generosity and compassion, inspire leaders and staff to serve the public with excellence.
The Director General also addressed current disruptions affecting Middle East-bound flights. Since Saturday, February 28, 2026, several flights from Entebbe to Dubai, Sharjah, and Doha could not operate due to issues at destination airports. Carriers affected included Qatar Airways, Emirates, Flydubai, Air Arabia, and Uganda Airlines.
He noted that Air Arabia has resumed flights to Sharjah, and Flydubai restarted its morning flights to Dubai, while other airlines continue to work toward full resumption. Passengers are advised to stay in close contact with airlines for updates.
The Iftar dinner continues UCAA’s annual tradition of bringing together the aviation community, fostering unity, celebrating diversity, and reinforcing bonds of friendship. The Authority wished all members of the Muslim community a blessed Ramadan.
