A team from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) led by Deputy Director General Olive Birungi Lumonya joined members of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) to celebrate International Women’s Day during a colorful event held at Revival Wellness Spa on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
The gathering brought together public relations professionals and leaders from different institutions to celebrate the achievements of women and encourage stronger professional collaboration.
The celebrations were held under the theme “Give To Gain,” a message that encouraged women and professionals in the communication field to support each other and contribute positively to their workplaces and communities.
Participants reflected on the importance of sharing knowledge, offering mentorship, and building networks that can help women grow in their careers.
During the event, Uganda CAA Public Affairs Officer Joan Kamwesigye spoke about the long-standing relationship between Uganda CAA and PRAU. She highlighted that the aviation authority has been a corporate member of PRAU for the past 20 years, a journey that has helped strengthen communication standards and professionalism within the organization.
Kamwesigye noted that through this partnership, Uganda CAA has benefited from various training opportunities, networking platforms, and professional guidance offered by PRAU. She said the relationship has played a key role in promoting effective communication and building trust between the institution and the public.
She also reaffirmed Uganda CAA’s commitment to maintaining the strong and mutually beneficial relationship with PRAU. According to her, collaboration between institutions and professional bodies is important for improving service delivery and ensuring that communication professionals continue to grow and adapt to the changing media landscape.
The event also created a platform for women in public relations to share experiences, celebrate their achievements, and discuss the challenges they face in their careers. Participants emphasized the importance of supporting one another and creating opportunities for young women entering the profession.
Deputy Director General Lumonya and the Uganda CAA team praised PRAU for organizing the event and for continuously promoting professionalism in the public relations field. They encouraged more institutions to participate in such initiatives that empower women and strengthen professional networks.
As the celebrations came to an end, participants expressed optimism that the spirit of “Give To Gain” would continue beyond the event. Many left inspired to support their colleagues, mentor younger professionals, and contribute to the growth of the public relations profession in Uganda.
