The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has announced that its road works team, widely known as #KCCAatWork, is still operating along Sixth Street in the Industrial Area. Because of ongoing concrete works, the entire stretch of the road has been temporarily closed to all traffic. The authority explained that the closure is necessary to allow engineers and construction workers to complete the work safely and properly without interference from moving vehicles.
According to KCCA, the concrete works being carried out require enough space and time to set correctly. Allowing vehicles to pass through the construction zone could not only slow down the work but also pose serious safety risks to both motorists and workers. For this reason, the authority decided to completely block the section of Sixth Street until the critical phase of construction is completed.Motorists and members of the public have been strongly advised to follow traffic guidance provided on-site.
Traffic officers and road signs have been placed in the area to help drivers navigate safely around the closure. KCCA emphasized that following these directions will help reduce confusion and prevent unnecessary delays. To ease movement in the area, Fifth Street and several nearby connecting roads have been designated as the main alternative routes.
These streets are currently serving traffic that would normally pass through the closed section of Sixth Street. Drivers heading to businesses and facilities within the Industrial Area are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and use these alternative access points.KCCA acknowledged that the closure may cause inconvenience to road users, transport operators, and businesses that rely on the road.
However, the authority assured the public that the works are aimed at improving road quality and long-term transportation within the Industrial Area. Officials noted that such upgrades are necessary to create safer, stronger, and more reliable roads for the growing city. The authority also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused during the construction period.
Nevertheless, KCCA believes that once the works are completed, the improved road will greatly benefit motorists, businesses, and residents who depend on the Industrial Area’s road network every day.
