The Tujenge Bus campaign, led by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), recently made a significant stop in Namayingo Town Council, where URA teams engaged with local shop owners to provide valuable education and sensitization about their tax rights and obligations. The event aimed at strengthening the relationship between the tax authority and the business community, while encouraging greater participation in the country’s tax system.

During the visit, URA officials took time to meet shop owners in their businesses, explaining how their contributions through taxes help in the development of not only their individual enterprises but the nation as a whole. One of the key points emphasized was the importance of having a Tax Identification Number (TIN), a crucial tool that enables business owners to contribute to government revenue and remain compliant with tax regulations.

URA praised the shop owners for already having TINs, recognizing their role in supporting national development.
Ouma Godfrey, the Chairperson of the Business Community in Namayingo, took a moment to express his gratitude to URA’s leadership for their supportive and compassionate approach toward business owners. He highlighted how this positive engagement has contributed to the growing culture of tax compliance within the community, making it easier for businesses to operate and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

As the Tujenge Bus campaign wraps up its successful visit to Namayingo, the next stop is Tororo District, where URA will continue its mission to educate and empower more business owners across the region. This initiative is part of URA’s broader effort to foster a culture of voluntary tax compliance, encouraging businesses to thrive while contributing to Uganda’s economic development.

With the continued support of URA’s leadership, the campaign hopes to inspire even more shop owners to embrace their role in building a stronger, more prosperous nation.
