Makerere University has rolled out a tight application schedule for first-year students seeking hall accommodation for the 2026/2027 academic year, cautioning that failure to apply within the set timeframe will lead to automatic disqualification. In a formal communication issued on June 29, 2026, by the Office of the Dean of Students, the university confirmed that all newly admitted freshmen are now eligible to submit applications for residence.

The administration stressed that accommodation is not guaranteed, as the number of available bed spaces is limited and allocation will strictly depend on space availability. All applications must be submitted through the ACMIS portal, the same online system used for accessing admission letters, with students required to follow the digital process without exception.

The university further clarified that applicants will only be allowed to choose halls they have been officially attached to, eliminating any option of selecting alternative halls outside their assignment.Even students admitted under government sponsorship or designated resident programmes are not exempt from the application process, as such admission does not automatically secure a room in the halls.

The application portal will be active from July 6, 2026, until July 10, 2026, closing precisely at 11:59 p.m., with the administration firmly stating that no late submissions will be entertained.Successful applicants will be notified through the ACMIS portal, and students have been urged to adhere strictly to the guidelines, as hall accommodation remains a crucial part of student life, influencing comfort, safety, and academic adjustment.
