Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has urged Ugandans to embrace accountability, patriotism, environmental conservation, and active civic engagement, stressing that these values are central to sustaining peace and driving national transformation across Uganda. The President emphasized that every citizen has a role to play in safeguarding the country’s stability, saying that respect for the rule of law, honesty in leadership, and responsible citizenship are key ingredients for long-term development and unity.

He reiterated that government actions aimed at strengthening security and public order are not intended to undermine justice, but rather to reinforce it by ensuring that no individual or institution is above the law.On the issue of corruption, Museveni acknowledged that it continues to challenge public service delivery and weaken institutions, but assured citizens that intensified measures are being implemented to curb financial abuse, organized crime, and misconduct in public offices. He further encouraged the public to take an active role in exposing corrupt officials and to support leaders who demonstrate transparency, discipline, and commitment to serving the people with integrity.

Addressing urban economic activity, the President defended ongoing enforcement against illegal street trading, noting that regulated business environments help improve public health, reduce congestion, protect formal enterprises, and enhance government revenue collection. On environmental conservation, he warned that the destruction of wetlands and forests poses a serious threat to rainfall patterns, agriculture, and Uganda’s long-term economic stability, pledging continued restoration efforts alongside strict action against encroachers on protected ecosystems.

He concluded by calling on citizens to actively participate in upcoming local government elections and to choose leaders who prioritize service delivery, accountability, and anti-corruption efforts, reaffirming that patriotism and responsible governance remain the foundation of Uganda’s prosperity.
