Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has praised socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan for her views on fame, professionalism, discipline and leadership, saying her observations closely reflect his own beliefs.Mayiga said he drew important lessons from an article about Zari’s public life published by the Weekend Monitor, particularly her views on how people can turn popularity into meaningful and lasting success.
According to Zari, fame alone has limited long-term value unless it is transformed into something tangible.“Fame is powerful, but it is also temporary if you do not convert it into something tangible,” she was quoted as saying. She explained that popularity can create opportunities and open doors, but maintaining success requires professionalism, consistency, discipline and the ability to deliver results.“Popularity can open a door, but professionalism, consistency, and discipline are what keep you in the room,” Zari said.Mayiga also highlighted Zari’s views on leadership and the difficult decisions that leaders sometimes have to make in order to protect an organisation or business.Zari noted that leadership can sometimes become lonely because decisions that are beneficial to an organisation may not necessarily please everyone.“Leadership can be lonely because the decision that protects the business is not always the one that makes everyone happy,” she said. She further argued that leaders must sometimes separate personal relationships from organisational interests, especially when dealing with issues of performance and accountability
.“You can love people, support them, and still have to make decisions based on performance, accountability, or the future of the organisation,” Zari said.Mayiga appeared to strongly agree with the message, saying Zari’s observations sounded similar to principles he has consistently promoted in his own leadership.“The Boss Lady’s words sound like they came straight from my mouth 😁,” Mayiga wrote.Zari, popularly known as the “Boss Lady,” has built a strong public profile through entertainment, business and social media, with her activities attracting attention in Uganda and South Africa. Her career has seen her combine celebrity status with business ventures, giving her experience in managing a public image while building commercial interests.Mayiga has also frequently spoken about the importance of discipline, hard work, accountability, leadership and wealth creation. His endorsement of Zari’s comments therefore highlighted the shared emphasis both place on turning opportunities and influence into meaningful results. The remarks come as Zari continues to use her public platform to share views on business, personal growth and leadership, while Mayiga continues to champion responsible leadership and development within Buganda and beyond.
