Kisoro District LC5 Chairperson Richard Ndyana is among three people who sustained serious injuries after a government vehicle overturned several times along the Kabale-Kisoro road in Rubanda District. The crash occurred on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at approximately 7:40pm in Hamuko Village, Karengeri Parish, Muko Sub-county, as the occupants travelled towards Kisoro.Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said the vehicle involved was a Toyota Hilux Double Cabin pick-up belonging to Kisoro District Local Government.
The vehicle, registration number 3400392, was reportedly travelling from Kabale when the driver encountered a sharp corner and failed to negotiate it safely. The loss of control sent the pick-up rolling several times, leaving Ndyana and two other male occupants with serious injuries.Rubanda District traffic police responded to the scene and arranged for the injured occupants to be taken to Kisoro Hospital for treatment.
Police have since appealed to motorists using the busy Kabale-Rubanda-Kisoro route to exercise greater caution, particularly when approaching bends and other potentially dangerous sections of the road.Tumushime also urged drivers to observe speed limits, avoid driving after consuming alcohol and take adequate rest whenever fatigued, warning that reckless and tired driving can have devastating consequences.
