The Electoral Commission has announced dates for fresh nominations in electoral areas where previously nominated candidates have died ahead of the elections.In a statement issued in accordance with Section 26 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, Cap 177, the Commission said fresh nominations will be conducted on Monday, October 27, and Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
The exercise will apply to affected electoral areas where a candidate who had already been duly nominated has passed away.However, candidates who were previously nominated for the affected elective positions at the respective Local Government Councils will not be required to go through the nomination process again.
The Electoral Commission has advised aspiring candidates to obtain the required nomination forms and guidelines from the Electoral Commission offices in their respective districts.The forms and nomination guidelines are also available in soft copy through the Electoral Commission’s official website.The Commission has urged all aspiring candidates to adhere to the established nomination procedures and requirements.The Electoral Commission said the fresh nomination exercise is part of its efforts to maintain a transparent, fair and inclusive electoral process.
