The Government of Uganda, through the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), has taken another step towards expanding access to clean and safe water in Adjumani District. This morning, the NWSC team tested a newly extended water main serving Deri, Maridi, and Olobo villages in Adjumani, marking progress in efforts to connect more communities to the national water network.

The development is expected to give residents in the three villages an opportunity to access reliable and safe water closer to their homes.Following the successful testing of the new water main, NWSC teams have also started engaging residents through house-to-house visits.During these engagements, residents are being guided on the requirements for obtaining new water connections and the process of being connected to the NWSC network. The house-to-house approach is intended to help residents understand the connection process and make it easier for eligible households to benefit from the newly extended water network. For many communities, access to clean and safe water is important for households, schools, businesses, and other activities that depend on a reliable water supply.

The extension to Deri, Maridi, and Olobo is part of the Government’s wider efforts, through NWSC, to expand water services to more communities across Uganda.Residents in the beneficiary villages are now being encouraged to take advantage of the new network by following the connection requirements provided by NWSC.The latest development demonstrates the ongoing expansion of Uganda’s public water infrastructure as the Government seeks to bring clean and safe water services closer to more people.

NWSC officials are expected to continue working with residents as the connection process progresses, ensuring that communities understand how they can access the new water service. The extension of the network to Deri, Maridi, and Olobo therefore represents an important development for Adjumani residents and another step towards wider access to reliable clean water services across Uganda.
