A significant diplomatic ceremony unfolded at State House Entebbe as President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni officially received Letters of Credence from six newly appointed ambassadors accredited to Uganda. The occasion marked the formal commencement of their diplomatic missions and reinforced Uganda’s expanding footprint in international relations.
Leading the delegation was H.E. Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Abdulrahman Abdullah Al-Zweidi, Ambassador-designate of the Qatar. His accreditation signals continued momentum in cooperation between the two nations, particularly in commerce, labor externalization, and strategic investments.
H.E. Mr. Juan Humberto Macìas Pino presented his credentials on behalf of the Cuba. Uganda and Cuba share longstanding ties rooted in solidarity and collaboration, notably in the fields of healthcare services and education development.
Also received was H.E. Mr. Seddiki Nafaa, Ambassador-designate of the Sahrawi Republic, reflecting Uganda’s sustained commitment to diplomatic inclusivity and its engagement with diverse partners across Africa and beyond.
Representing the Israel, H.E. Mr. Gideon Behar formally began his tenure. Uganda and Israel maintain productive relations spanning agriculture, innovation, security cooperation, and technological advancement.
H.E. Mr. Jaime Moreno Bau, Ambassador-designate of the Spain, also presented his credentials. Bilateral relations between Kampala and Madrid continue to grow, particularly in trade, renewable energy, tourism, and cultural exchange.
From Southern Africa, H.E. Mr. Màrio De Azevedo Constantino was accredited as Ambassador-designate of the Angola. His appointment is expected to deepen collaboration in regional integration, economic transformation, and shared development priorities.
In his address, President Museveni warmly welcomed the envoys and reaffirmed Uganda’s openness to mutually beneficial partnerships. He emphasized the country’s focus on value addition, economic transformation, technology transfer, and sustainable prosperity, while assuring the ambassadors of full government support throughout their respective tenures.
