Authorities are now working to establish the full extent of his activities, including the number of people who may have been affected by the alleged impersonation scheme.

Further details are expected to emerge as investigations progress.URA has used the incident to remind taxpayers and the general public to remain vigilant. Kalumba urged anyone who encounters suspicious individuals claiming to be URA officials to immediately report them through the authority’s toll-free line, 0800257700. He emphasized that public cooperation is essential in helping authorities identify and stop fraudsters before they can cause harm.

The tax body also warned taxpayers against making payments through personal phone numbers or unofficial channels. URA reiterated that all tax payments must be made through recognized banking and authorized payment systems. Officials say following the correct procedures is one of the best ways to protect oneself from scams and financial losses. The arrest serves as a strong warning to individuals who misuse the identities of public officials for personal gain.
