Inside the Rise and Fall of Eagles Production! Mesach Semakula Breaks Silence on What Really Went Wrong

Veteran Ugandan artist Mesach Semakula has spoken out about the hidden challenges that led to the eventual collapse of the legendary music group Eagles Production after 18 years of success in the industry.

In his reflection, Mesach described the early years of the group as a period defined by unity, discipline, and shared ambition, where every member worked closely together like one family.

He explained that at the beginning, the group had fewer members, which made coordination easier and allowed them to manage both their music earnings and personal needs without major friction.

According to him, the income they earned from performances was openly discussed and fairly allocated, with members even agreeing to support each other in paying rent and handling basic life expenses.

Mesach further revealed that the group also practiced collective decision-making, including pooling resources together to invest in major projects such as buying land, which strengthened their bond at the time.

However, he noted that the situation gradually changed as Eagles Production expanded, bringing in more members and new personal responsibilities that made financial management more complicated.

He said that with growth came misunderstandings, especially around money sharing and decision-making, which slowly weakened the unity that had once defined the group’s success.

Mesach also pointed out that external pressure and damaging rumors from individuals who did not want the group to thrive contributed significantly to the internal divisions that eventually led to its collapse.
