The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is pushing ahead with a new water infrastructure project aimed at improving the reliability of water supply in Mbarara City and nearby communities. The project, being implemented under the Government of Uganda, involves laying a 12-inch water transmission main from Mbarara City towards the Kanyeganyege booster station.

At the Kanyeganyege booster station, water will be pumped onward to the Nyampikye tank, strengthening the wider water distribution system serving communities in and around Mbarara. The new transmission line is expected to make a significant contribution to the stability of water supply in Bwizibwera, Kaguhanzya, Rubindi and other surrounding areas.

NWSC is now working to ensure that construction progresses quickly, with the corporation targeting completion and commissioning of the new line within two months. The project is part of broader efforts to upgrade water infrastructure and ensure that communities have access to a more dependable and efficient water supply system.

NWSC has expressed appreciation to stakeholders across Mbarara City for their involvement in planning the project and for supporting its implementation on the ground. As the works continue, the corporation is counting on continued cooperation from stakeholders as it moves towards commissioning the new transmission line and improving water supply reliability for residents across the affected areas.
