Stanbic Bank Uganda has launched a new brand campaign dubbed “Keep Growing” as the financial institution prepares to celebrate 35 years of operations in Uganda. The 18-month campaign is designed to highlight the country’s potential, resilience and determination while encouraging individuals, businesses and communities to continue pursuing growth.

Speaking at the launch, Stanbic Bank Uganda Chief Executive Mumba Kalifungwa said growth does not happen by chance but comes through courage, adaptation and confidence in the future. He explained that the campaign reflects the bank’s commitment to standing with Ugandans, especially women, young people and farmers, through initiatives that promote inclusion, innovation and positive transformation. The campaign is built on Stanbic’s long history in Uganda, with roots dating back to 1906 when the National Bank of India began operations in East Africa before later becoming Grindlays Bank. In 1991, Standard Bank Group entered Uganda through the acquisition of Grindlays’ regional assets, beginning a new chapter in the country’s financial sector.A major milestone came in 2002 when the Government of Uganda privatised Uganda Commercial Bank, with Standard Bank acquiring a majority stake. This positioned Stanbic as one of the country’s largest commercial banks, expanding its role from traditional banking services to supporting households, farmers, entrepreneurs and industries across Uganda.

Stanbic leaders said the “Keep Growing” campaign is both a celebration of Uganda’s achievements and a call for continued effort towards economic development. Sam Mwogeza, Executive Director and Head of Personal and Private Banking, said the campaign recognises the determination of Ugandans who continue to overcome challenges and seek new opportunities.Paul Muganwa, Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, noted that Uganda’s changing economy requires strong financial support to drive trade, infrastructure development and agro-industrial growth.

He said Stanbic remains committed to helping businesses access capital and participate in the country’s economic transformation.Tunde Thorpe, Head of Business and Commercial Banking, highlighted the importance of small and medium enterprises in Uganda’s growth journey, saying Stanbic will continue supporting businesses through financing, advice and partnerships. Catherine Poran, Chief Executive of the Stanbic Business Incubator, added that empowering entrepreneurs helps create stronger communities and unlock long-term economic opportunities. The campaign will run through media platforms, community engagements, enterprise hubs and digital channels, showcasing stories of Ugandans creating change in farms, factories, markets, homes and online spaces.

Stanbic Country Manager for Corporate Communications Ken Agutamba said the campaign belongs to every Ugandan who has contributed to the country’s growth journey. As Stanbic Bank Uganda marks 35 years of service, the institution says its future focus remains on supporting progress through innovation, financial solutions and partnerships. The message behind the campaign is simple — Uganda’s growth story is still being written, and everyone has a role to play in helping the country “Keep Growing.”
