The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has taken its Tax Katale campaign to Sembabule in the Masaka region, reaching traders and small business owners with practical information on tax compliance.Officers from URA’s Masaka Domestic Taxes office moved through the trading community, engaging business owners directly at their workplaces in a door-to-door tax education drive.
The approach allowed the officers to meet traders where they operate, listen to their concerns and provide guidance on tax matters in a simple and practical way.During the outreach, Tax Education Officer Derrick Walumbe advised retail shop owner Fred Tumwebaze on the importance of keeping proper business records to help him determine his accurate tax obligations.Tax Education Officer Ivan Kamukama encouraged small business owners to maintain a strong relationship with the Masaka Domestic Taxes station so they can continue receiving guidance and support on tax compliance.
URA Commissioner General John Rujoki Musinguzi has called for stronger taxpayer engagement and education, emphasising the need to make it easier for businesses to understand their tax responsibilities and comply with the law.The Sembabule engagement demonstrates URA’s continued effort to take taxpayer education beyond its offices and closer to the people running businesses across Uganda.Through Tax Katale, URA is creating more opportunities for traders to interact directly with tax officers, seek clarification and gain the knowledge needed to manage their businesses while meeting their tax obligations.
