Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) is using the 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair to take tax education closer to taxpayers, businesses and members of the public through free advisory services and direct engagement at its exhibition stall.
The trade fair, taking place at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) grounds in Lugogo, Kampala, has attracted a wide range of exhibitors, businesses, entrepreneurs and members of the public, providing URA with an opportunity to explain taxation in a simple and practical way.
URA officials from the Tax Education, Domestic Taxes and Stakeholder Management teams are at the exhibition engaging visitors, responding to their questions and providing guidance on different taxation matters. The team is also distributing taxation booklets to help visitors access important tax information even after the fair.
The exhibition is giving taxpayers an opportunity to interact directly with URA officials and seek clarification on issues that may affect their businesses and personal tax obligations. The free advisory services are aimed at helping the public make informed decisions and better understand their responsibilities as taxpayers.
The tax education message is not limited to business people and adults. The URA team also welcomed pupils from Hillside Primary School who visited the stall with a desire to understand what taxes are and why they matter to the country.
The young learners were introduced to the basic purpose of taxation and informed that taxes provide government with revenue used to support the delivery of public services and development programmes that benefit citizens.
Through its participation in the trade fair, URA is also using the platform to promote a better understanding of taxation and encourage voluntary compliance by making tax information more accessible to the people it serves.
The 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair will run until October 11, 2026, and URA is encouraging all visitors to make a stop at its stall to access free tax advisory services, obtain educational materials and get assistance on any taxation-related concerns.
