The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has once again been recognized for its commitment to supporting humanitarian work in Uganda. On Friday, February 20, 2026, the Authority received a special award from the Uganda Red Cross Society in appreciation of its continuous support during emergencies and disasters across the country.

The award was presented by Robert Kwesigwa, the Secretary General of the Uganda Red Cross Society, during the National Council meeting held at the society’s headquarters in Rubaga, Kampala. While presenting the award, Mr. Kwesigwa expressed sincere gratitude to UCAA for its unwavering voluntary support in promoting the Red Cross mission of saving lives and strengthening community resilience. He noted that partnerships like this play a key role in improving emergency response efforts in Uganda.

On behalf of the Authority, UCAA’s Principal Public Affairs Officer, Kenneth Otim, received the award. In his remarks, Mr. Otim thanked the Uganda Red Cross Society for its active involvement in UCAA’s Full Scale Emergency Exercises, which are held every two years at Entebbe International Airport. These exercises are designed to test and improve the airport’s preparedness in handling major emergencies.

He also appreciated the Red Cross for participating in Search and Rescue sensitisation programs organized by UCAA. Such programs help build knowledge and readiness among different stakeholders, ensuring that emergency situations are handled quickly and effectively.

The collaboration between UCAA and the Uganda Red Cross Society shows a strong shared commitment to safety, preparedness, and humanitarian action. Through continued cooperation, both institutions are contributing to a safer aviation sector and a more resilient Uganda.
