Kadongo Kamu star Mathias Walukagga has opened up about his decision to postpone his upcoming concert after discovering that his planned date coincided with a concert by fellow musician Mary Bata.Walukagga had earlier set November 28 as the date for his much-anticipated show, but the plans changed after Bata announced that she would also be holding her concert on the same day. Instead of allowing the clash to develop into a disagreement, Walukagga opted to change his programme.

Speaking to Spark TV, the veteran singer revealed that his concert has now been pushed to January 15, 2027, and will be held at Kampala Sheraton Hotel. He said the decision was deliberate and aimed at avoiding unnecessary tension with Bata.Walukagga explained that his long experience in the entertainment industry has taught him the importance of handling disagreements carefully. Rather than insisting on his original date, he said he chose a peaceful solution that would allow both artists to organise their respective shows without competing for the same audience. The singer said he was also not under pressure to hold the concert at all costs.

According to him, there is no need to create conflict over a particular date because he has plenty of time to stage his performances and connect with his fans.Walukagga further said that he considered Bata’s position as a female musician when making his decision. He maintained that he did not want the situation to create bad blood between them or fuel unnecessary comparisons between the two artists.

He added that his approach could even apply to his new concert date, saying he would be willing to move the event again if another musician claimed the same date. For Walukagga, preserving peace within the music industry is more important than winning a disagreement over a concert calendar. The Kadongo Kamu singer maintained that the clash was not serious enough to warrant a confrontation. He said he would be comfortable competing with a male artist in such circumstances, but saw no reason to turn the situation with Bata into a battle, choosing instead to step aside and wait for his turn.
