Singer Grace Nakimera has cautioned celebrities and other public figures about the dangers that often come with fame, wealth and public admiration, urging them to remain humble even when they reach the highest levels of success.Drawing from her own experience in the entertainment industry, Nakimera said fame can have a powerful influence on a person’s character. She recalled a period when she was highly celebrated by Ugandans, noting that excessive praise can easily make someone develop an inflated sense of importance. The singer explained that when people constantly tell a celebrity how great, successful or important they are, the attention can gradually affect their mindset.

Without self-control, she said, one can begin changing their behaviour and adopting a lifestyle that separates them from the people and values that once kept them grounded.“Fame is very dangerous,” Nakimera said, recalling lessons about humility that she learned from her mother. She admitted that being heavily praised at the height of her career could have influenced her, as constant admiration can make a person feel as though they are above everyone else.Nakimera said her journey has taught her that humility is more valuable than pride, regardless of how much recognition or financial success a person has achieved. She added that she now tries to approach what she does sincerely and from the heart rather than seeking validation from others.

The singer further warned those who become financially successful not to allow money to control their decisions or determine their identity. She pointed out that wealth can be temporary, and the circumstances surrounding a person’s life can change unexpectedly.“The peak is dangerous, and when you get financially stable, just be careful. Don’t let the money guide you,” she cautioned, stressing that success should never become a reason for someone to look down on others.Reflecting on the uncertainty of life, Nakimera urged successful people to remain grounded while they have the opportunity. She warned that pride can become costly when fortunes change, leaving someone without the friends and relationships they once took for granted.
