Balaam Barugahara! Trading Orange Tees for Ministerial Suits

Minister of State for Youth, Hon Balaam Barugahara, has admitted that he misses a very personal part of his style—his signature orange T-shirt. Known for its bright, casual appeal, the shirt has long been a favorite among his supporters and friends, but his new ministerial role demands a different wardrobe.

Balaam explained that the rules of his office leave little room for casual attire. “From Monday to Friday, I wear suits because the position I hold requires a certain level of decorum and respect for the office,” he said, reflecting on the responsibilities that come with public service.

Despite the formal expectations, Balaam finds moments to return to his preferred style. During his free time, at home or while exercising, he still dons the orange T-shirt. For him, it remains a symbol of simplicity and comfort, a stark contrast to the rigidity of formal suits.

The transition has not been entirely smooth. Balaam confessed that adapting to high-end suits has its challenges. “These suits are beautiful, but they are high-maintenance. They take a long time to dry and always need ironing,” he revealed, giving a glimpse into the small sacrifices behind his polished appearance.

His orange T-shirt, which once defined his public persona, now represents a part of him that he still holds close. “I’ve always appreciated how easy it is to match, how comfortable it feels. Those little things matter when you have a hectic schedule,” he added.
Balaam also acknowledged that dressing formally is part of showing respect for the office and the people he serves. “Professional attire is not just about appearances; it’s about honoring the trust the President and the public have placed in me,” he explained.

Many have found Balaam’s honesty about missing his casual wear relatable, showing that even high-ranking officials navigate the balance between personal comfort and professional expectations. His openness gives a human touch to the often distant image of politicians.

Though suits now dominate his weekdays, Balaam’s orange T-shirt remains a small but powerful reminder of the freedom and ease he once enjoyed, proving that personal style and identity can coexist, even under strict professional rules.
