The Electoral Commission, led by Chairperson Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, has commenced the distribution of polling materials ahead of Uganda’s 2026 General Elections.The Commission officially flagged off the first batch of polling materials from its central warehouse for delivery to 12 districts, marking the beginning of the nationwide distribution exercise.
The materials are intended for use during polling for the Presidential, Directly Elected Members of Parliament and District Woman Representatives to Parliament.Justice Byabakama said the distribution exercise is an important milestone in the Commission’s preparations for the 2026 elections, demonstrating the importance of proper planning and logistical coordination.According to the Electoral Commission, materials for the remaining districts will be dispatched in the coming days to ensure that all polling stations receive the required supplies well before election day.
The Commission said the distribution is being conducted under strict security measures to protect the polling materials against tampering, loss or other forms of interference during transportation.District officials and other stakeholders have also been urged to cooperate with the Commission to ensure the materials are received and secured appropriately.The Electoral Commission said the timely and secure distribution of polling materials is part of its broader preparations to facilitate a peaceful, credible, transparent and well-organised electoral process across Uganda.
