A new political development is unfolding in Kampala as former Kawempe North parliamentary hopeful Moses Nsereko officially aligns himself with the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), adding fresh energy to the movement’s expanding base.
Nsereko’s decision comes after a series of strategic meetings held at the PLU Secretariat in Naguru, where leaders from the organization engaged him in discussions focused on strengthening political structures and widening grassroots outreach across the country.
The former aspirant was received by Michael Mawanda Maranga, who heads mobilization efforts within PLU. Mawanda described the engagement as impactful, noting that Nsereko’s entry reflects the movement’s growing appeal among emerging political actors.
Leaders within PLU view Nsereko’s shift as a timely boost, particularly in urban areas like Kawempe, where political competition is often intense. His familiarity with the constituency is expected to enhance local engagement and support.
Mawanda emphasized that integrating individuals with political experience is key to building a strong and responsive organization. He pointed out that such additions help PLU deepen its connection with ordinary citizens and improve its organizational effectiveness.
In parallel with recruitment efforts, the PLU leadership has been focusing on strengthening internal systems. Mawanda recently convened a training and sensitization session for party cadres at the Naguru headquarters.
During the session, participants were taken through practical mobilization approaches and reminded of the importance of discipline, unity, and maintaining a professional image while representing the movement in communities.
PLU officials maintain that these combined efforts—expanding membership while sharpening internal capacity—are central to creating a solid and values-driven political force, with Nsereko’s arrival seen as another step toward achieving that vision.
