Police in Wakiso have arrested three suspects linked to a series of violent motorcycle robberies following an intelligence-led operation by the Uganda Police Force. The arrest has brought relief to motorcycle riders who have recently lived in fear due to increasing attacks, especially at night.

The operation followed a report made on 13th February 2026 at around 10:00 pm. A rider, Ssesanga Equiam, was attacked by suspected criminals armed with pangas. The attackers forcefully robbed him of his motorcycle, registration number UMA 191 DV, a Bajaj Boxer.

The incident was reported as aggravated robbery and immediately triggered focused police investigations.Using gathered intelligence, police tracked the suspects to Old Kampala, specifically in the Bukesa–Nankulabye area. During the arrest, officers recovered 10 motorcycles believed to have been stolen during previous robberies in Wakiso District and neighboring areas.

The suspects were taken into custody for further questioning. While under interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to taking part in several criminal activities. These include motorcycle robberies, highway phone snatching, house breaking, and theft. Police say the group mainly targeted riders at night and along quiet roads where help was hard to find.

Among the recovered motorcycles are those with registration numbers UDH 516H, UGB 248V, UEV 046C, UDH 746H, UDK 657F, and UDN 001C. Police also recovered four Bajaj motorcycles without number plates, raising suspicion that they were being prepared for resale or further criminal use.

Police investigations are still ongoing to identify more victims and possible accomplices. Authorities have urged members of the public who may have lost motorcycles to visit nearby police stations for verification, as efforts continue to fight motorcycle-related crime and improve public safety.
