In the spirit of Red Cross Month, the Uganda Red Cross Society Entebbe Branch extended its humanitarian mission beyond words and into action through a community service exercise conducted in Bugonga Village and at the landing site. The initiative aimed to strengthen environmental responsibility while promoting healthier living conditions for residents.
The activity was proudly supported by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), whose commitment to community development was evident throughout the day. Their participation reflected a strong dedication to giving back to the communities that surround and support their operations.
Working alongside UCAA were officials from Entebbe Municipal Council, representatives from K Hotels Entebbe, and enthusiastic Red Cross volunteers. Together, they formed a united team driven by a shared vision of creating a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment for all.
Armed with cleaning tools and a passion for service, participants engaged in a large-scale clean-up exercise that targeted public spaces and high-traffic areas. Their efforts not only improved the appearance of the community but also contributed to reducing environmental and health risks associated with poor waste management.
Special attention was given to the Bugonga landing site, a vital economic hub that supports many families and businesses. By enhancing sanitation in this area, the team helped create a healthier environment for fishermen, traders, residents, and visitors who rely on the site every day.
Beyond the physical clean-up, the initiative served as a platform for community awareness and engagement. Residents were encouraged to embrace proper hygiene practices and take an active role in protecting their surroundings for future generations.
The exercise demonstrated the remarkable impact that can be achieved when organizations and volunteers unite behind a common cause. Through teamwork, dedication, and community spirit, participants transformed the day into a meaningful example of service above self.
